Practice listening to key signatures and training your ear to recognize them.
🎼 What is a key signature?
A key signature is the group of sharps (♯) or flats (♭) written at the beginning of a musical staff.
It shows which note is the “center” of the music — in other words, the key of the piece.
🎧 In this section, your child will listen to audio examples of different key signatures.
By hearing these regularly, they will naturally start to recognize keys by ear.
Before they even start reading music, they’ll begin to associate each sound with its key —
helping them build a solid foundation for reading, listening, and developing pitch sensitivity.
🎯 Goals:
-
Memorize key signatures (sharps and flats) by ear
-
Develop the ability to feel the key when hearing a song
-
Build an internal sense of pitch before reading the notes
